Kai-a-te-mata Marae Reservation Charter

Throughout 2025 and 2026, the Kai-a-te-mata Marae Board of Trustees undertook a comprehensive review of the Reservation Charter to modernise the marae’s governance framework, clarify the roles and responsibilities of Trustees and the Marae Committee, align the Charter with current legislation, and preserve the original purpose and intent of the Reservation for future generations.

The review process included Trustee and Marae Committee workshops, Charter Waananga, wider whaanau consultation, consideration of feedback, and the preparation of the final proposed Charter. Following this process, the new Reservation Charter was formally adopted by the beneficiaries and registered members at the Kai-a-te-mata Marae Annual General Meeting on 12 July 2026.
