Karakia | Prayer

Karakia are traditional Maaori prayers that connect us to the spiritual world, calling upon the blessings of our atua and tuupuna. They are used to open and close gatherings, request guidance and protection, express gratitude, and nurture harmony and wellbeing.

Hei mua koe, e Ihowaa, hei toohutohu i aa maatou mahi katoa.
Ko koe anoo hoki hei whakakaha i a maatou,
kia whai korooria ai koe i aa maatou mahi katoa.
He mea tiimata, he mea mahi, he mea whakaoti i roto i a koe,
kia whiwhi ai hoki maatou ki te ora tonu,
i te mea e atawhaitia nei e koe, ko IIhu Karaiti hoki too maatou Ariki.
AAmine.

Go before us, O Lord, and guide all that we do.
Also strengthen us,
so that you may be glorified in all our work.
May everything we begin, carry out, and complete be done through you,
so that we may receive everlasting life,
through your loving care, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Give us today our daily bread,
